Let us take you swimming with whales.

An experience you'll remember for life.

Our Accommodation

In Ha’apai offer two different types of accomodation

The First is a Beautiful Boutique Resort on the island of Foa

Suitable for those wanting something relaxing and serene. Situated on the most beautiful beach in Foa and possibly all of Tonga. The 12 beachside bungalows sit within a tropical garden and each has a private terrace boasting incredible views of the crystal clear Pacific Ocean. The perfect place at the end of a busy day whale swimming to unwind with a cheeky cocktail or too.

The comfortably furnished rooms have tiled floors and spacious ensuites.

Rooms can be set up with two twin beds or one King Sized bed. They each have tea and coffee making facilities and daily fresh drinking water.

There is plenty of solar powered hot water with good pressure.

There is a furnished deck with a table, chairs and sun lounges for you to relax and soak up the afternoon sun with a good book and a glass of bubbly.
A great place for you to watch the passing whales and reminisce over your day of whale swimming.

The Second style of accommodation is for our EcoRetreat Tours situated on the beautiful island of Uoleva.

Unique and special in terms of focus on peacefulness, privacy, disconnection from the chaos of the modern world – and most importantly connection to our incredible setting on this amazing island. The fales (Tongan for “house”) have been carefully designed and well-spaced to provide you with your own private sanctuary tucked just within the natural coconut forests only metres from the beach. This way you can enjoy a stunning view of the sea while keeping cool within the shade of an island forest – and have no idea anyone else is on your island!

Looking forward to time alone with your family or that special person in your life? Simply retreat to your secluded fale and enjoy a glass of wine on your deck, a good book in your private hammock, or just lie on your comfortable bed and listen to the sound of swaying coconut trees and gentle waves on the beach in front of you. If you feel like socialising just walk down your path to our dining & bar area where there are always great conversations to be had and new friends to be made. Don’t let the heme of an eco-retreat fool you into thinking a stay at Sea Change is roughing it. Quite the contrary! We’ve strived for luxurious comfort while keeping true to a minimal footprint and being absolutely disconnected from the grid – and in all honestly we have achieved this.

“Glamping” style tent units placed on elevated wooden platforms with a view of the sea. Our spacious safari tent fales are approximately 3.6 metres wide by 2.7 metres long and more than 2 metres tall. Each tent fale comes with a choice of a queen size bed, or two XL single beds (all on elevated wooden bed frames). They also include a private bathroom with instant hot water showers, basin/sink and toilet – and LED lighting within the tent and bathroom. Our tent fales also have a private front garden area with hammock, and large decks with a table and chairs for relaxing with a glass of wine or playing cards while looking at the sea.

Large luxury wooden fales
Our Brand new Luxury Fales are in the process of being built right now! So we have a sneaky peak of the plans for you25451518-d685-4ff0-9dfb-bbd81d06298f

Large luxury wooden fales which are beachfront, have an interior living area of 4 by 4 metres, large wooden decks and private bathrooms with basins/sinks, toilets and hot showers. Each new fale features a screened garden area in the back with outdoor showers (with hot water!), and large front decks with a table and chairs facing the sea. Bedding arrangements come with a choice of two XL singles or a super king (we can also cater for families with young children through a combination of bedding options).

The retreat has been meticulously laid out to carefully plan where each fale would go. Our goal is to ensure all guests will enjoy everything this island has to offer within a context of absolute comfort and the ability to socialise or retreat to a private sanctuary as desired.

Dining on both types of tours

Tonga is famous for its abundance of excellent fish and lobster and Ha’apai as its centre is therefore a heaven for seafood lovers. In combination with local sweet potatoes, yams and breadfruit we create interesting, delicious meals. For meat lovers we serve top-quality steak, chicken and pork, mostly imported from NZ. We can also cater to vegetarians but please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements as only basic foodstuff are available locally.

Our meals are accompanied by excellent wines from Australia and New Zealand.

What could be nicer than making new friends over a sundowner at the bar? Enjoy a coconut cocktail while watching the sunset behind the outer islands before making your way into the restaurant for a candlelight dinner. On the way back to your fale, marvel at the countless brilliant stars. Heaven has never felt so close!
