There is a very short window in which we get to experience a very magical event that happens on Australias Great Barrier Reef for only 6 weeks out of every year..
The very curious Dwarf Minke Whales migrate to the GBR at the same time each year and we will take you to the exact spots in which they like to congregrate..here we are able to spend many hours on end swimming with them and learning about their inquisitive nature
This phenomenon happens only 6 weeks each June/July and all encounters take place on the whale’s terms. Learn about their biology, behaviour and life history through onboard lectures by marine biologists and scientists. Guests will be given the opportunity to assist the ongoing research by helping to identify individual whales and be involved in behavioural observations. This is truly one of the most unique under water experiences available (and don’t forget that it is accompanied with magnificent diving and or snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef!)
This tour will also include a very scenic flight to the beautiful world famous Lizard island where you can choose to stay for extra leisure days on at an extra cost
Why come on tour with MWE and Eye to Eye Encounters?
John Rumney and his dedicated team of researchers and crew have been running swim with minke whale trips for 17 years and pioneered the swim with whale experience in Queensland. They were also instrumental in the development of guidelines that ensures all encounters are carried out on the whales’ terms and have now been adopted by industry as World’s Best Practice. “We believe in connecting people with nature in a profound and meaningful way. Our aim is to create the best minke experience along with excellent reef snorkelling and diving.”
