Swimming with Whales See the action!
The Best Whale Swimming Experience In Tonga!
Have you ever dreamed of swimming with whales? Thanks to Majestic Whale Encounters, your dream can become a reality.
Every year from the end of July to October, Humpback whales visit the tropical northern islands of Tonga. They migrate here in large numbers to mate and give birth.
Why choose the islands of Ha’apai? We have only a very small handfull of operators in Ha’apai compared to the high tourism in neighbouring islands- this makes for a peaceful day on the ocean with the whales. Most days we don’t see another boat on the water, this adds to our secluded island getaway maximising our time with the whales and minimising the stress to the whales.
In Ha’apai’s crystal blue waters, we are fortunate enough to be able to interact with these majestic mammals of the ocean in their breathtaking underwater environment. With a maximum number of 8 guests per tour this is truly a magical experience. The Responsible Partnership for Whale Watching has set down guidelines to ensure that all interactions with these animals are non-invasive, and we take these guidelines very seriously. At Majestic Whale Encounters, we strongly believe that it’s an honour rather than a right to share the ocean with these magnificent creatures.
Come with us to swim with the whales in Tonga, and experience the magic of the humpback whale in its natural environment.
Majestic Whale Encounters are proud to be an active member of The World Cetacean Alliance, promoting responsible dolphin and whale watching worldwide and abiding by the set rules and regulations
As an environmentally conscious company, we are proud to be one of the few “green eco-tours” in Tonga that take people out to watch and swim with these giants of the ocean.[/column]
The Whales You Will See
When Whale watching, you are likely to come across humpbacks. The tropical waters of Tonga are both the mating and calving grounds for humpbacks, an endangered species who migrate from Antarctica to these warmer waters annually.
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) are baleen whales that grow to an average of 19 meters (62 feet) long once mature. Their flippers are a third of the length of their body, and they have fleshy knobs on the ridges near the head. Being quite active swimmers, they often partake in rolling, breaching, spy hopping and tail lobbing.
Whether you want to swim with these gentle giants, or go whale watching in Tonga, Majestic Whale Encounters can provide you with the experience of a lifetime.
